Our Guarantee
At Meadow Sun, our goal is to grow healthy trees that will have the chance to grow to maturity, thrive and support life, whether it be food and medicine for people, homes for birds, or any other function the person planting has in mind.
We guarantee that the trees we sell are alive, healthy and in good condition when you receive them, whether by delivery, pick up or mail order.
All trees received by pick-up or delivery by us will be deemed in good condition. We are happy for you to examine the tree before you take it home. We cannot accept responsibility for any damage occurring during transport in your care. We can provide recommendations and tips on good practices when transporting your trees. If damage does occur while you are transporting the trees, please still reach out to us and we can advise on how to proceed (pruning advice, etc.).
Once you receive your tree by mail, it is up to you to reach out to us if you think it has been damaged. You have 3 days to report any damage. Please include photos of the damage along with a detailed description, and we will work on replacing the tree or offering a refund if appropriate. We cannot provide refunds for trees that deteriorate in the post due to unforeseen delays caused by sudden strikes, etc. We will be diligent to monitor postal conditions to avoid that outcome.
After transplanting, there are many variables that lead to a trees survival and thriving. We do not take responsibility for the outcome of the trees survival. We supply you with a planting and care guide, to help support the tree, it has certain needs and if these needs are not met, we can not be held accountable. These include improper planting, site choice, lack of establishment watering, climatic factors such as drought, flooding etc. We also cannot provide our guarantee for damages from external forces such animals like deer, rabbits and rodents, dogs, insects, mechanical damage from lawn mowers, line trimmers, cars, vandalism. However, we are happy to advise on how to proceed if your tree is damaged. Life is resilient and often plants can recover from even severe damage. Don't hesitate to reach out.
The tree must have been planted within the first 3 days after receiving it. Please refer to our Planting Guide for details.
Some species of trees are slow to leaf out in the spring. We ask that you be patient and wait 45 days after a spring planting before you proclaim a tree dead. You can always scratch a small section of bark with your thumbnail. If the cambium (inner bark) is green, the tree is alive. For Fall plantings, please wait until the end of May before proclaiming the tree dead.
How to Enact Our Guarantee
If the tree is damaged upon arrival or fails to leaf out in spring (not because of damages listed above), please reach out to us with detailed pictures of the tree (buds, bark, whole tree, tree tag) as well as a detailed description of the water regime so far and other any information you think is relevant (site conditions, weather patterns). We may request more information to understand what happened. If appropriate we will provide a refund or store credit. We will try to replace the same individual species or cultivar, if stock is available.
We hope that it can be a learning experience for both you and us. As written above, we want these trees to thrive and grow, as well as the people involved with growing them!
Our guarantee does not apply to cuttings, but again, please reach out to us with any concerns or challenges you may encounter.
