Our Story
This is the work that needs to be done. Working in line with the seasons, and being gentle with the land. Planting trees so there can be more trees, more flowers and medicines. For the birds, the bees, the now and the next generations.
We are a small family in Lyndhurst, Ontario with big dreams of a future with more trees and edible plants nourishing people's lives! We tend a small parcel of land where we use simple processes to produce a healthy amount of food for ourselves and to share with the community around us. After taking ownership of a fixer upper, we built gardens before we even started working on our house. Here we are now... with running water and a cozy house. Our gardens are constantly expanding. No longer do we just want to feed ourselves. We strive to contribute to the local food system creating more food security within our community. We offer seasonal produce at our road-side stand from spring to autumn, and eggs from our chickens year-round.
We love having fresh food within reach and want to make it more accessible and possible to bring more unique and desired trees and shrubs to your gardens! Perennial food systems are vital to food sovereignty and resilience. They are an amazingly personal and rewarding journey that we can all be a part of.
Meadow Sun Nursery and Gardens is growing food with intention and care, growing trees that will be strong and healthy. With a history of working on organic vegetable farms, permaculture projects, and homesteads, and inspired by edible forest gardening and permaculture principles and practices, we are constantly learning and striving for self-renewing fertility and overwhelming abundance from our gardens while being in balance with the land and her other inhabitants.
In a time when we are seeing the globalized capitalist system shift dramatically, we are following our hearts' call to be a part of building the world we want to see. One full of peace, abundant local food, regenerative relationships with land and nature, a deep connection to place and strong relationships with community and family. We see our work in that to include making some amazing plants available to people to nourish them, their communities, and their progeny.
We couldn't possibly plant all the trees we want to help come into the world here at our little home, and we feel honoured to work with you in growing thriving and abundant plants, where ever you might be. Happy growing!

Who are we?
Our values
Agriculture and all food production has the power to do immense damage to the Earth, and also the power to be a creative, nurturing and regenerative force. Our growing and land tending methods are made up of the most eco-logical practices we currently know. We use a variety of mulches, all sourced locally, as a way of building soil, fertility, protecting topsoil, and tending to the herd of microorganisms that are the real powerhouse of the garden. We fertilize using compost, bedding and manure from our hens, as well as home-made amendments such as fermented plant teas and mineral extracts. All weed and pest control is done by hand or with non-chemical methods. Our goal is to build a thriving pocket ecosystem here that benefits diverse life, not just our own.
