The archetypal living mulch plant, Comfrey is highly touted in permaculture spheres as being a must have in your garden, and we have to agree! Comfrey concentrates nutrients gathered by its deep tap roots into its foliage. Cut back the leaves and lay them near your fruit trees, ferment them into a mineral rich fertilizer, or dry and infuse them into a heal topical balm for yourself. We plant comfrey under many of our trees. Comfrey is known to spread and can become aggressive, so be strategic where you plant it.
