The Eastern Crack Willow is a large deciduous tree that loves wet soils. It is a pioneer species with brittle branches that act by shedding during storms and drifting downstream to root on river banks, establishing clonal colonies, allowing it to spread much faster than through seed dispersal. This Willow cast deep shade and is a great habitat tree for insects and birds. This tree grows fast and is very resilient, it contains a natural rooting hormone which gives it an optimal chance of surviving (with the right moisture levels), it can also be used as a coppice plant with its incredible biomass available, using the branches to weave wattles fences and other structures.
