The mighty Elderberry! An iconic medicinal and edible plant, the elderberry carries a sense of wisdom with it. Beautiful clusters of yellowish-white flowers are followed by abundant small deep purple-black berries. The flowers and berries are prized for their medicinal properties. Elderberries must be cooked before being eaten. Fresh berries can be dried or frozen. They are excellent added to baking, made into juice, or the seasonally desired elderberry syrup as a tonic against winter colds. Elderberries are fast growing and tolerate partial shade. Self fertile.
