A fast growing native tree that produces copious amounts of berries when mature. Excellent wildlife food. The berries are dark gold to purple when ripe. They are quite sweet and flavourful. There is very little flesh around a large seed (which is edible), so are best eaten out of hand as a nibble. Apparently once a renowned timber tree for its golden tight grain. Self fertile.
